Roll out a piece of salt dough 1cm thick. Place the heart and star templates on the dough and cut around them. Place the shapes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake them for about four hours at 120 degree C, or 250 degree F/Gas 1/2.

When the shapes have hardened, remove the try from the oven (using oven gloves) and transfer them to a cooling rack. Once they have cooled, smooth rough edges with sandpaper before painting your rings. When dry, apply a coat of varnish.

Glue a ring attachment on to the back of each shape and leave the glue to dry before trying on the rings.
